Blog Journal #7

The school website that I visited is my own elementary school website from back in the day. I went to a catholic elementary school and the website is heavily based around faith and religion. It mentions its mission and other religious things such as bible quotes. There is also information about clubs, sports, and events going on at the school. The school costs money so there is an area that shows the tuition and fees that it costs to attend.

I think that using technology has its perks and its downsides. It can become distracting for students so the use of technology will be limited. Of course, there is lots of positives about the use of technology such as the incorporation of games and videos. Visually demonstrating or showing the children information can be beneficial for some that do not understand when it is just spoken to them. Also, games are a great way for kids to associate learning with having fun and challenging them to beat their own scores. I will use youtube for informative videos and sites such as Quizlet to make study sets.

Some of the new skills I learned including creating a creative commons license for my work to be used publicly. I also learned how to create a calendar on google and use it on the website. I have never been able to export a calendar but the embedded code tool was very helpful. I also learned and worked on basic tools such as organization and designing a website that is relevant to situation.
