I have spent a lot of time in my day doing distance learning. Much like the rest of my peers, our change towards distance learning has been through online/synchronous zoom meetings that involve the whole class, just at the comfort of their homes. I can say through experience that I enjoy being able to role out of bed and get onto a zoom call or get up whenever and do my work as I please but it comes with its downsides. I saw a horrible change in my sleep schedule which ultimately caused me to waste away much of my days. Being in person at least kept an orderly routine that got me out of bed each morning with something to strive for that day. As a teacher, it is important to induce participation in other ways through distance learning. Something such as keeping strong contact can help keep students on track and engaged with the class.
