EME2040 Class Blog #1
Welcome to the life of Doug Lombardo's class blog
My name is Doug Lombardo and I come from a modest home in Baltimore, Maryland. My family is made up of my mom and dad, my sister, and two brothers. Also, I have to include my dog Mowgli as a member of my family because he is just so special. I am sophomore at Florida State but my entire freshman year was spent abroad in Valencia, Spain. That experience changed my entire outlook on life and has greatly
influenced my goals in life.
Throughout my days in school, I have used a plethora of different technological services. One of the services that I consistently use is excel. I took a class this past semester that entirely focused on excel and how to use it efficiently. I have also used Wix to create a website for my English class. We focused on a specific topic for the entire semester and had to create a website that this specific niche community would be engaged in. Other technological services that I have used in school include Microsoft teams, Zoom, and Onenote. For the entirety of high school, we used Onenote as a service to take notes for each class. I had a Microsoft surface and this came with a touch screen that was very helpful for note taking.
When it comes to personal learning networks, I tend to use online sources. One of the many sources that I use for real time information is Twitter. No matter what, someone is always tweeting about some sort of topic. As an International Affairs major, I follow people who have similar goals and aspirations as myself. These people provide a way of life that I want to have and how I can attain it. Other personal learning networks that I use are Reddit, which is similar to Twitter in the way that anyone can post their opinions and knowledge on boards about specific topics. discord is another service that I use online where people create niche communities where everyone has some sort of interest in common. I am apart of a discord community that focuses on NGO's and non-profits overseas. There are members that are like me, and looking for more knowledge and there are individuals who put out information about what they do.
