Blog Journal #5

Throughout my early uses on Twitter, I have gained a great understanding of how the app works and all the people that are active on it. Some of the people I have interacted and followed with are travel experts. These people post their lives and how they can afford/make a living while always on the go. This is important as I envy this lifestyle and want to incorporate it into my future. These people even make some money off their following and this can be an important tool in my future if I gained a following and became an influencer. Even without becoming an influencer, it is a great tool to meet like-minded people who are interested in the same things as myself.

In this day and age, everything is done online. The problem with this is that some people have much more access to these important devices than others. This causes a great divide where some students are much more advanced than others. This leads to more serious issues down the road where jobs require some level of technological understanding, and some will be ineligible because they never learned the proper tools. You may see kids that know tricks you don’t even know and others that don’t know anything. Teaching strategies that can be implemented include a basis level for each child in a certain age group. Each student should be taught the same things, of course, some might already know beyond their level but at least they can be taught the same thing to further develop their understanding. Maybe even, they can help their fellow peers.

Working on Canvas for assignment 2 was unique. I had never been on the other side of things and placed information in as if I was the teacher. I like the accessibility that it has and how our entire group could edit and place information into the group individually. I did not like how importing information or formats from other services do not go into canvas exactly as they were. For example, adding charts had to be done directly on canvas for it to work. Copy and pasting charts from Word resulted in the loss of the box while all of the information was still there. You can use Canvas for the future K-12 students as a tool for staying on top of work. It has features such as calendar that can be useful for kids to stay on task and know what they need to do.
